Hello. My name is Rhona Bain and I live in Glenrothes in Fife. I was a Primary school teacher for over 20 years before being widowed at 42 and finding myself as a solo parent for 2 school aged boys. I had always loved singing and so I trained to become a self-employed music teacher for babies and toddlers (with their parents) and thoroughly enjoyed running classes in Fife for over 11 years. Since becoming bereaved at a young age I have had the opportunity to volunteer for 2 bereavement charities helping both adults and children and I am also a fully qualified Seasons For Growth companion, helping to run groups in schools for children who have had a big change in their life such as a bereavement or a family break up. I met Lesley by chance when she kindly offered to help me run an event to raise awareness of Adverse Childhood Experiences and so when she posted about the Mindful Monkey training, I felt sure it was something I was meant to do. I wanted to know more about “All behaviour is communication” and I thought it would be great to work with parents and children having seen how well that worked through my music classes. The training was amazing and I just wished I had known so much of this information when my boys were younger. We had had many difficult years when I didn’t understand them or their behaviour and I now realize that they were just as unsure and confused as I was but we didn’t know how to find a way to have more positive connections as a family.
I have been fully qualified as a Mindful Monkeys® Better Together Certified Practitioner since March 2019 and it is so wonderful being able to give parents and children the opportunity to find ways to help them have more positive connections with each other and within their families.
I offer one to one sessions with one parent and one child and I offer group sessions to schools for 4 – 6 parents with one child each. I look forward to hearing from you if you think I could help and would like some more information.
